SING LOUD

The rug is finished with the hooking and is now ready to bind. I added beads to the birds eyes. Hopefully the cat won't think it is something for her to play with. There were 3 of us who did this pattern. I will try to get a picture of all three together. I think it is always interesting to have several people do the same pattern and see how different they turn out.

It Is Almost Valentines Day

Here is our new Valentine. Her name is Abbey and she is a puppy. Her linage is in question but we think she will stay small enough to live indoors. Her people went to jail and she ended up at the SPCA living with the cats because there wasn't enough room with the dogs. Anyway, along came my Jim who rescued her and now she is a Happy Dog. She still lives with a cat but only one and she has someone who adores her. Needless to say I hadn't planned on getting a dog so soon but then I've done lots of things I didn't PLAN on doing.

Merry Christmas

Well the day has been very relaxing. We started to go to the movie but decided to watch the movies we had on cable instead. We started to go out to eat and decided to eat what we already had in the fridge. Hummmm....wonder if this is going to start a new trend in 2009. Using what we already have, what a concept. I am working on a surprise for someone so I can't post any pictures for fear she will see it so you will just have to take my word for it that I am hooking. I will still post pictures of my other projects as I am notorious for having more than one project going at the same time. I think I might be ADD except that I don't move very fast so there must be another label for it......Be kind:)
I have only one resolution for the new year and that is to return to Weight Watchers and get back into those clothes I bought last year. Otherwise I will be wearing a Burka wherever I go. There, I've said it out loud so I have to follow through.
I wish all of you a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous NEW YEAR!
HAPPY HOOKING!!!

Oh Baby It's Cold Outside!!

Well the weather outside is frightful to quote the song. The wind has blown for the past 2 days but this morning it blew in a cold spell that makes it feel a lot like winter. FINALLY! Today is the first day I have been able to keep a long sleeve shirt on all day without breaking a sweat. NICE! So, today I finished hooking this little rug that I started on Saturday. Yes, Saturday, but, you have to understand that it is not very big. It measures 29 x 7 and I am going to make it into a pillow. If I had thought about it, I would have made it longer so that it could be a "draft dodger" at the bottom of the door or in a window sill. The cardinal on the dog's back is hooked with a scrap of antique paisley and the black on his face is done with black metalic wool which gives his face some sparkle. I love quick projects. They just take the edge off and make you feel like you really accomplished something.
I tried to figure out the new MULTIPLY that Wool Snippets is moving to. Have any of you tried that yet? I don't seem to be smart enough to figure this one out yet. I have a feeling that it is not Mac compatible and that will leave me out for sure. Anyone have any info on this?????

WHAT HAPPENED TO 2008?

Well Fellow Hookers, here it is. The end of another year. I thought I would share with you our Lone Star ATHA Guild project for 2009. We started on this in September and for the next year we will do a 12 block sampler. Each of the meetings we will accomplish  blocks taught by different members of our Guild. When we are finished we will lay them all together for a group photo and do an article for the ATHA magazine. The first two blocks were an autumn leaf done in the "painterly" fashion and the Hawaiian Pineapple Quilt pattern done in the Waldaboro style. The Texas pattern is done in paisley and the Rose is done in a wide cut.  Some chose to do their blocks with 4 across and 3 down. I chose to do mine in a runner so I could put it on my table. I am running out of places to put rugs on the floor. Where do most of you put your rugs? Do you plan your projects for certain places in your home or just do them because you like the pattern and then worry about what to do with them when you are done?

Once Upon A Time.....

I am retired from my job of 34 years working for a Methodist Church. I have been in the antiques business for 25 years and still on occasion will do an estate sale or sell on consignment for customers. I began hooking rugs about 10 years ago and fell in love with the "sport". The friends I have made through hooking are some of the best people I have ever known. In 2008 I began a rug hooking camp called Yellow Rose Events. We have been puttting on this performance again every March since in Salado, Texas. Please check out the website if you are looking for a quality rug hooking camp in Texas. http://www.yellowroseevents.net
